I don't see Onyx has being a human name. I can picture a black cat being called Onyx, a nice change from the overused Midnight, but not a person except in fantasy type fiction. I see Onyx as beinga name the person chooses for herself (I see it as more of something a girl would choose) like an online handle, a stage name or something like that.
