[Opinions] Re: Chloe'
in reply to a message by Dot
They didn't choose to. My mom was filling out my birth certificate and my older sister came into her hospital room adn jumped up on the bed, adn her pen made a stray mark. My mom didn't notice it until she got the printed version of my birth certificate. They just thought, "Oh well, we'll leave it Chloe'. It's pretty, adn I highly doubt many people are going to take the time to stop and try to pronounce it Klo-ay." So I've always been Chloe.

Ah, I see. I'm surprised she didn't think people would pronounce it Chloé, but that might just be because I'm a French student and a name nerd, which affects how I look at the situation.I'm confused now, though- is it (on the birth certificate) Chloe' or Chloé? I know ' is sometimes used to stand in when a keyboard won't make accent marks, and since everyone else assumed you meant Chloé, I did too.

Chloe'. The accent mark isn't directly OVER the e. It's beside it. Thanks for not being very rude about this and all. I just want help with this. My parents have tried, but teachers are so darn ignoreant! (No offense if you're a teacher.)

Naw, I'm a student. When roll is called and they say "klo-AY", and you reply, "Actually, it's KLO-ee", do they not note it?I'm not sure exactly what the rules are with legal names, but you can probably write Chloe instead of Chloe' on your registration forms, and avoid the whole issue. You could also stop signing your name Chloe', and probably legally change it to remove to accent. It's a bit of a hassle, but a lot less of a hassle than having your name misspelled, which sounds like it really bothers you.

When you say note it, (please keep your mouth shut RoxStar) you mean they write it down right? Some do, some don't. Thanks. I'll talk to my mom about changing the way I write my name.Thanks. You're not like soem of the other people on this board that are being slightly rude and degrading. Thank-you.

No one on here is being degrading.Everyone has been giving you very informed opinions and you are the one being rude:
"keep your mouth shut RoxStar."If you want people to give you their honest opinions, you have to learn to deal with it when they disagree with you.

She said I was being silly for asking a question I honestly didn't know the answer to!( or is that supposed to be too??). Maybe YOU don't think their comments (other than Dot, jj21jj and others, yourself included on most of your comments) are degrading, but to the person on the receiving end they are. And RoxStar, I'm sorry. But your commetn hurt me. But still, I had no right no harp and knock you down. I opologize, and hope you will forgive me.

It's no big deal.Everyone on this board has very strong opinions and nothing is meant to target anyone personally. Most people here are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about names so this is a great place to be--just learn to not take things anyone says as direct attacks.

Okay, done, deal. Now can some one besides DOT and jj21jj tell me what to say to these people?? THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE MESSAGE!

I wanted to know if you think it's stupid for people to ASSUME my name is pronounced KLO-AY with out asking me first. Not introducing. I would have done that in the lounge thing. Sorry if I ticked you off. I'm not saying I did, but IF I did. Sorry.
