[Opinions] Darla?
I have started to really, really like this name. I think it's very pretty and feminine and also classy. Any thoughts?

I agree; I've always found it adorable and pretty and classy. I wish more people used it.

I'm sorry, but to me it's dated and old woman-ish:-(

I really like it, it's sweet and girly, but will also suit an adult. Very nice name.

For me, it's one-half Little Rascals......and one-half Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel. The second moreso than the first. It sickly-sweet feminine to me, but evil, too (because of the latter association). I'm not sure how many people will think of the same characters, though.

Yep, I'm half-and-half on that one, too (though it does make me think of a vampire first, lol).

Hi there, Sorry, but I don't really know what you mean by 'Little Rascal' -ish. Could you elaborate? Thanks x

One out of how many?I bet if I walked down my hallway at my dorm and asked people what they thought of Darla half would do Buffy or Angel, the other half would do Little Rascals. Either way not a good name, not to mention it just screams slut and white-trash to me.

Seriously?I'm very surprised. I wouldn't think many people in the real world even know what that reference is to, much less would think of it when they heard the name Darla.

The movie came out when I was a kidAnd was insanely popular, so I'm not at all surprised. Original TV, yes. Movie, not so much.

Yes, seriously. That's my 1st association, also. In fact, I can't even think of the name w/o these lines from the re-make coming to mind:"Dear Darla,I hate your stinkin' guts..."
Poor Darla! It's really a sweet name, too. :o/

Dating myself here.. I have a spot of fondness for Darla. It's very "Little Rascals" to me, and sweet.

I don't care for it. It's as if the parents wanted to call their dd Darling but were too embarassed. "We'll call her Darla instead." I know it's an odd reaction, but that's what I always think.

I like it.

Darla is femiinne, but classy? Hardly. It is not considered to be a classy name by most people.I find it middle-aged and trailer-trashy, like a waitress with bleached-blonde hair and too-tight clothes, chain smoking and trying to pick up her diner customers.I've also often had my own name misheard as Darl when I answered the phone at work with "...This is Starla."Darlene is some better, but I'm not fond of it. As far as arl names for girls go, I do like Marlena or Marlene, and Charlene, which is my MIL's name. Also Carla is kind of cute.

Hi, Thanks for the comment. I find it fasinating how names create different images to different people. I have never thought of the name as trashy, as I said. It genuinely makes me think of someone in a higher socitey. My Mum hates this name (as she hates most of the names I like) but I just wondered what people on here thought of it.
