[Opinions] Cormick?
So yesterday I requested full names that could have a nickname of Mack or Mick and I think it was Octavia that suggested Cormack, which I really liked. So I looked it up online and found the similar name of Cormick. I think I like Cormick better because I prefer Mick to Mack, but also, because of the meaning. Cormack means Raven's Son, while Cormick means Chariot Driver. And the reason I like that is because my #1 favorite song in the world in Chariot by Gavin DeGraw. It's about getting away from the stuff that bogs you down and just relaxing, its an escape. And I guess Gavin DeGraw pictured himself ridding off in a Chariot and going back to what makes him feel good. I love that concept. I first heard it when I was 16 and fell in love with it and eventually learned how to play it on the piano, and then I started singing and playing it. It was the first song I ever did piano and vocals to at the same time. That lead me to start writting and playing my own songs and then I finally started doing open mics. Chariot was the first cover I ever played at an open mic. And now I basically live for open mics and I'm working on copyrighting my songs so i can make demos for them and start getting real gigs. Cause my real dream in life would be to gig around with my own music and live off of it. And Chariot is really THE song that lead me to where I am now. So it's very important to me.
I also like the name Gavin, for Gavin DeGraw, but I feel like everyone I know already knows how much I like DeGraw's music and if they heard I named my child Gavin, they'd be like "really? you're obssessed!" haha, so Cormick is still a throwback to the importance of Gavin DeGraw's music, but its not as obvious. At the same time, it is a last name as a first name, which I'm not a huge fan of, and I feel like there's a company that sells fish or something named McCormick, but maybe I'm wrong. But it is unusual, without being horribly unheard of. And he could go by Cory or Mick or Mickey or something. Either one i like. Or he could use his middle name if he totally hates it. But I'm having trouble with combos...maybe:Cormick James

Cormick William
Cormick Gavin

Cormick Emmanuel (i'd prolly never use this, just like the flow)

I like Cormick a lot. I don't think it's too out-there, it's got a very solid and namey feel. And it's too surnamey for my own tastes, but overall I don't think so. Plus I like "Mick" better than "Mack" anyway.I like Cormick John, Cormick Gregory, Cormick Emmanuel, and Cormick Daniel. I wouldn't use Riley next to it because that would be two surnames.Incidentally, Mac is a traditional nickname for Malcolm. It comes from the same way Hal comes from Harold and Harry from Henry - often people will form nicknames by skipping over one consonant sound, for some reason. *shrug* That's why I suggested it. Anyway I like Cormick.

Malcolm nn Mack?Cormick sounds too trendy and the meaning is a bit goth for my taste. It also reminds me of the frozen chicken Nuggets McCormack, which is a silly and unattractive association. Has anyone suggested Malcolm nn Mack? That's WAY better.

How is Chariot Driver goth? Unless maybe the whole escape thiing from the song, but i think of it as relaxing and getting back to your roots, unless you're confusing with the meaning of Cormack, meaning Raven's son something. But I get good associations.
Malcolm I think of Malcolm X or Malcolm in the middle, which I think are too strong associations to have...and i dont see Mack from Malcolm...i mean they're similar but I wouldnt hear the name Malcolm and think to use Mack as a nn.
But no one really seems to like Cormick haha so i'll keep thinking it over.

I prefer Cormac over Cormick, to be honest. McCormick is a large brand of spices, and that's the first thing I think of with the name Cormick. However, that might not be an issue for you, and I do think it's a nice way to reference your favorite artist. Out of your combos, I really like Cormick Julian.

I think Cormick looks like a variant or a creative spelling of Cormac. I've never heard of Cormick, but if the meaning you have is correct, it's much nicer than the unfortunate meaning of Cormac! (which is too bad, really, 'cause it's such a nice name).I like Mack for a nickname the best. I don't like Cory, and Mick is (or at least was) a derogatory name for Irish immigrants. I don't know how many people would make that association anymore, but that's what it makes me think of.Also, McCormick is a spice brand, if that's what you're thinking of.I like these combos of yours:
Cormick James
Cormick William
Cormick Daniel
Cormick Samuel
Cormick Timothy
Cormick Riley
Cormick John
Cormick Alexander
Cormick Gregory
Cormick Henry
Cormick OliverBut I think Cormick Gregory, Cormick Henry, and Cormick Oliver are the best. Some other ideas (I tried to keep to a similar style):
Cormick Arthur
Cormick Benjamin
Cormick Evan
Cormick Lewis
