[Opinions] Amelia vs. Emilia
Trying to decide which I prefer - I'm leaning towards Emilia, but I'm curious to see what you all think. So, which do you prefer, and what are your general impressions of the names? Also, how do you feel about the nickname Millie (Milly, maybe?) for either name? What are some middle names you'd pair with your preferred version? I've thought up a few, but nothing quite jumps out at me.Emilia Jane
Emilia Charlotte
Emilia Margaret
Emilia Clare
Emilia JosephineThese are all names already on my PNL, and they don't sound bad, but I don't love them, either. So, suggestions?

I like AMALIA best!...no text inside...

I much prefer Amelia to Emilia. I think Milly makes a cute nn for Amelia, very sweet. I love Amelia Jane, Amelia Charlotte, Amelia Josephine, Amelia Rose, Amelia Pearl, Amelia Ruby, Amelia Nancy, Amelia Zoe and Amelia Daisy.

This is a real puzzle for me. I love Emilia, but Amelia gets on my nerves. I pronounce them identically, or at least so close as to make very little difference. So I suppose it's the different associations that I have with them that tip the scales.Emilia transports me back to ancient Rome. I love names like that and ancient Roman names are a pet love of mine. Emilia sounds like an intelligent, regal young woman.Amelia I picture as a spoiled brat, rich girl. Millie / Milly is a very cute nn, for either one. My favorite nn is Mimi, but I'm in a very small minority on that.I love all of your combinations, with Emilia Charlotte and Emilia Josephine being my favorites. Other ideas (sorry for any repeats):Emilia Celeste
Emilia Benedicta (that ancient Roman thing sneaking in)
Emilia Letitia
Emilia Patricia (= an industrious noblewoman)
Emilia Catherine
Emilia Gisele / Giselle
Emilia Rosalind (two Shakespearean characters for the price of one?)
Emilia Juliet
Emilia Caroline
Emilia Adeline
Emilia Jessamine

EmiliaIt just looks nicer to me. Plus, Emilia rids the name of the Amelia Bedelia and the disease references. Both pretty names, but Amelia is getting common, while I don't think Emilia is.I adore Milly. It's really, really cute. =DEmilia Madeline (MAD-uh-line, not like Madelyn) springs to mind, but I do like your combos, except for the fact that I dislike Clare.

I prefer Amelia because it looks so much like Melia, which is a very handsome name. Emilia is horribly trendy here - it's too sugar-sweet for me (Amelia is sugar-sweet, too, but at least I can imagine it on an adult.) On another hand, I guess that Emilia would be more refreshing in the USA - it's getting popular, but its rank was 420 in year 2006 when Amelia's was around 80. I also love Millie or Milly!Emilia Jane and Emilia Charlotte are both too sweet. When I look at them I feel like I was in a big candy shop.
Emilia Margaret - Ok, but a bit too long. How about Emily Margaret(a)?
Emilia Clare - I've lately liked Cla(i)re as a middle names to everything cute - it's so professional and cold.
Emilia Josephine - It is ok, but clumsy (IMHO) Josephine makes out of Emilia a bit frilly-Victorian.Emilia Georgia
Emilia Cora
Emilia Audrey
Emilia Joan
Emilia Nicole
Emilia Sarah
Emilia Barbara
Emilia Rachel
Emilia Monique
Emilia Ruth

I love Amelia. Although Emilia is not bad at all, Amelia is way better. It just looks better. Although Millie is nice, I just love the nickname Mia. Your combos are good except I do not think Josephine does not flow well.
I'll try some combos:
Amelia Rose
Amelia Marie
Amelia Madeline (I really like the m repeating)
Amelia Juliet
Amelia Katherine
Amelia Rachel

I prefer Amelia. I want to prefer Emilia *so badly* because it would honour Emma Goldman, but I just don't. Amelia just looks nicer to me. Both are lovely, though.
Milly is a nice nickname and it works for either, especially Emilia. I prefer Mia as a nickname for either myself.Emilia Jane, Emilia Clare and Emilia Josephine all sound lovely.

I prefer Emilia, though it probably has more to do with associations than with the names themselves. I knew a rather mean Amelia, and have a little cousin Emilia who is delightful.
Millie (or Milly) is one of my favourite nns!
Emilia Jane is lovely. How about Emilia Beatrice?

Beatrice is already on my PNL and its one I love as a first name. It's all right in the middle spot, but it just doesn't sounds as great to me as it does as a first name.

I definitely prefer Emilia. I think it has a softer, more feminine feel to it than Amelia that sounds harsh (the Ah-part in Ah-melia sounds like someone shouting) to me. I really like Emilia Jane, although Jane is nmsaa and Emilia Josephine (prefer Joséphine) but I'm not thinking "WOW, that's a great combo!". Some suggestions:
Emilia Vienne
Emilia Genevieve
Emilia Marie
Emilia Emerald
Emilia Salome
Emilia Sandrine
Emilia Harriet
Emilia Adelaide
Emilia Isabel
Emilia AislingOh, and I think Millie is a great nn although I prefer Emilia without any nn.

Ooh, Emilia Genevieve is pretty. I think I like the "J" sound after Emilia, I might want to look for more names like Genevieve.

I prefer Emilia. For some reason I don't like Amelia at all. It feels so... well, it feels weak.
As for the nn Millie it's adorable and I like it a lot. The combos are quite good but the don't jump out at me either. I've seen the combo Emilia Danielle a few times and I think it has a nice flow. WDYT?
Other combos:
Emilia Imogen
Emilia Caroline
Emilia Briony
Emilia Madeleine
Emilia Christina
Emilia Frances
Emilia Sophie
Emilia Thérèse ;)

I like:
Emilia Caroline
Emilia Madeleine (though maybe Emilia Magdalene?)
Emilia Frances
Emilia Therese (my middle name is Teresa, so this is doubly cute).
