My mother's name is Caryl. Her name was originally spelled Carol, but in junior high she got a little creative and started spelling it with a Y (I tried to follow suit when I was in 7th grade, and I remember my friend Aimee and I announced to one of our teachers that our names were now Ami and Katheryne [ew!], lol). She continued to spell it that way and eventually had it legally changed as an adult. So, I just wanted opinions. Does Carol/Caryl sound too baby boomer for use now? Does Caryl look too kre8tiv? I'd likely only use it as a MN, but I find the Y makes it look awkward paired with first names. Any names from my PNL that you'd suggest as FN's to go with Caryl? My keeps suggesting my sister (who is due with her first child in June) name the baby Mary Caryl (Mary is my sis's MIL's name) if it's a girl, and while I like the sound of that, the repetition of the -ary bothers me a lot. WDYT?
