Do you see Lester and/or Luther as stylish or would you say they need to lie fallow for a while yet?

Luther is stylish. Lester... the molester. Definitely needs to lie fallow.

Eh, they're both still very old man-ish, IMO. Luther might be able to work, but Lester can't seem to get past the front porch rocking chair for me.

Luther I can somewhat see as working

But not by much. Lester is totally unusable imho - it brings to mind the phrase "Lester the molester" right away. I knew a Lester in his 70s and he hated his name. So, no for Lester. As for Luther... I think the religious connotations (especially those of Martin Luther) are stronger than otherwise. And Luther wasn't that nice of a guy.

As Rachel Shay said, I think of Luther as a surname.
Lester just isn't my style at all.

Both remind me of old men, also ... which probably is another reason they don't really appeal to me.

I don't think they're useable, at least not for the time being. I don't see if Luther is useable ever as a first name, it's too cumbersome.

Luther

I don't agree at all about Luther as a first name. In fact, I rather like it. What about Luther Vandross, just to name one example. To me it has musical connotations and reminds me of a violin maker.

I don't mind how Luther sounds, it just reminds me way too much of Martin Luther, with all the implications that as, or possibly of Martin Luther King. And if one wants to honour Dr King's memory, I think Martin would be better.

Luther to me is a surname, just because I know a guy with it as a surname, and Lex Luther. I've never really heard it as a first name.

As for Lester... well, I can't help but thinking "Moe Lester". :P Big no for me.
