It's not bad, but a bit too "Mozarty". Personally I prefer Amedeo. And I'm sorry, it's really ridiculous on a girl, because of the Mozart connection and because the -us ending is masculine. What about Amedea?

I think it's very nice on paper. I can see the appeal to a name-nerd, as a name-nerd myself. But honestly, if I heard someone had named their baby Amadeus, I would cringe. In my neck of the woods it would come across as painfully pretentious.

I love Amadeus and I think it sounds great with Rene. I'd much prefer Amedea for a girl.

It's so strongly tied to Mozart for me that I can't quite see using it in real life, but I do like it very much. Mozart's birth name was actually Gottlieb, which has the same meaning in German (that man had a lot of names, he was born Johannes Chrysostom Wolfgang Gottlieb or some such monstrosity...). I think it's all-boy, and Amadeus Rene is a little heavy on the religious connotations, but a good-sounding name if you're okay with the baggage. As for nn, "Dey" is the best I can come up with.

As a teenager I had a triplet set in my head with Amadeus, Gottlieb and Theophilus as the middle names, haha.

ETA: I cannot believe that Chrysostom isn't in the database! Anglicans say the brief prayer of St Chrysostom every darn Sunday morning. And it was one of Mozart's names!

This is one rather "out-there" name that I actually like, and think is useable, which is surprising, since I have conservative tastes in names. My daughter and son-in-law love the name, and considered using it as a middle name for their son, due to the fact that my daughter is a great admirerer of Mozart. But since my grandson's first name is Leonidas, my daughter ultimately felt that the two names together were too much, both being four syllables long and ending in an US sound.

i would use it as a mn if anything. i think its a name i'd consider giving to my cat, but not so much a person. too much of an association with Mozart (another name for a cat!).

I like it a lot for a boy, but not so much for a girl. I tend to put it in mn spot as I also have difficulty finding a nn for it. I do think Amadeus Rene goes well together.

I like it. Amadeus is a cool name along the lines of Cosmo and Ignatius. It's one of those names that is made of ten kinds of cool and should be used more often than it is.

I don't see this name being as cool for a girl. Totally male to me. Amadea could work for a girl. And maybe Amadée. I'm not sure if that is a female version of the name or just another male variation.
