[Opinions] Clyde
I never thought I'd like this as a name.
1. WDYT?
2. Any MN or FN suggestions for both a boy and a girl? I like it on both. Which suprised me cause Clyde's listed for both genders on here.
I might keep it GP.
The Bonnie and Clyde assocation [it's not a great one but it doesn't bother me], neither do the horses.

A man whom I met on a dating site, have been talking to on the phone for quite some time, and am planning to meet in person is named Clyde. I actually thought about posting about the name because of him, but decided against it.
He's a great person, from what I can tell so far, but...no, I don't like his name. Not because of Bonnie and Clyde. I just don't like the sound of it.

It reminds me of a clydesdale (sp.?) horse. Not a bad association though. To be honest, I didn't even think of Bonnie and Clyde. I think I like Clyde. Unfortunately, my mind is completely void of thought right now and I can only think of Clyde Alexander as a combo. Personally, I would only use it on a boy.
Eh, it's okay. I always think of Clydesdales, so that ruins the name somewhat for me. Also, color me surprised that it's listed for both genders. I would never have thought of it for a girl (and I'm not fond of it).
I actually think I'd like it best as a middle name because of it's sound. I was trying out combos, and the flow was much easier with it in the middle name spot.
William Clyde
Andrew Clyde
Emerson Clyde
Edward Clyde
Clyde Evander
Clyde Maxwell
Clyde Lawrence
Normally I'd be able to think of more - Clyde is hard to pair!

Definitely boy only.
Personally, I just can't get past the Bonnie and Clyde association, it's just to obvious and well-known. Morality seems to be quite important for you, would you really want to give your child the name of a famous efferate criminal?
Otherwise, it wouldn't be a bad name just from the point of view of the sound.
Clyde Edward or Clyde Edmund could work. Or, as a mn, Jospeh Clyde and Alexander Clyde. It's really too weird to contemplate on a girl.

I love my name, but that's a huge downside for me
The fact that I share my name with Aileen Wuornos sometimes upsets me a bit, because I love the originality and uniqueness of my name, having never met an Aileen before in my entire life. But having the same name as a serial killer is never a good association.

I actually saw that movie Monster about her yesterday. Aileen is a name I always liked a lot (still do). Are you ever teased about it because of your name?
There are lots of other Charles's, though. I would find it very strange if someone named their child Manson!
True [m]
True, I just thought maybe it's cause Clyde isn't used a lot which makes sense! LOL.
I HAVE seen a kid named Manson once....

All things considered, though, Clyde is a nice enough name that if you like it you should use it. The association isn't bad enough to ruin it. I would probably make it a mn just to avoid teasing...
The kid named Manson must have a rough life. LOL.
The two namesakes I know of are Charles Manson and Marilyn Manson. Both of which are terrible! And I thought Heven Le'Blessing was bad.
