[Opinions] WDYT of Rudyard?
I love Rudyard Kipling's books. I would use Rudyard as a mn, of course.WDYT of the combo John Rudyard or James Rudyard? I dislike the nn Rudy, but I think Rudyard is a unique name, without being too unusual. WDYT and opinions welcome!

LOVE it. I think its due for a comeback. Actually, I'm surprised it hasn't been more prominent, given the Kipling connection. I am not so hot on Rudy as a nn, either, partially because I'd be afraid that people would assume that the full name is Rudolph. I like John Rudyard, like James Rudyard even better.
I like it as a first name with nn Rudy.
I, too, don't like Rudy, but I love Rudyard as a middle name. I think I prefer John Rudyard a little more than James Rudyard, but I think they are both fantastic combos. I love literary references in names :)
I think the name itself is quite nice, and I, too, love Kipling's books. But upon a rather in-depth study of imperialism, I discovered that Rudyard Kipling was a straight up racist. Like, a really bad one. He essentially thought that the white guys should just go ahead and kill all the Africans and Indians. Sometimes I think that I know TOO much about history, because it makes me feel unable to use a lot of names that I generally like. But as long as that association isn't a big deal for you (most people aren't as history obsessed as me, so that's totally understandable), then go ahead and use it. It's a lovely name despite Kipling's lesser qualities.
I like it a lot as a mn.
As a fn, I think Rud is a more natural nn than Rudy, but I don't like either.
