I love the name Tess and also Tessa. I used to have a dog called Tess actually, but I would still consider using it or Tessa. I think there are a lot of names that could be paired with it. What about:

I love Tess - love its "short and sweet" nature. I prefer it as a given name, but like it as a nickname as well.

It's okay. It sounds like a nn for something like Tessa or Tessie or something like that.

I think its okay but my grandmother had an overweight weimeraner named it so I have trouble taking it seriously sometimes because I always think of that silly dog.
