[Opinions] Re: Welsh names from The Last Sin Eater
in reply to a message by Melissa
Most of those aren't Welsh! I see several Irish names among the boys' names. Ewan is spelled Evan.
In Wales Katrina is Catrin.
Lilybet was the name Queen Elizabeth II gave to herself in childhood in her babytalk attempts to pronounce Elizabeth. It stuck!!
A Welsh nickname for Elizabeth is Betsi. Bethan is a contraction, perhaps combined with Ann and similar to Megan for Margaret.
I like Elin/Elen (both are in Welsh use).
Glynnis sounds dated.
Delyth and Ffion are fresher.

I know.
I realize that most aren't Welsh. I guess sarcasm doesn't come off in print very well. I probably should have put Welsh in quotes.
ETA: I agree about Glynnis.
