[Facts] Adesta?????
My aunt's name is Adesta and I have searched for it many times but cannot find a meaning. I liked the sound of it anyways and gave it to my daughter as a middle name. I only wish I knew what it meant. If it helps my aunt is all german.

Hi. My name is Adesta and was told my great grandma named me and she was a direct import from Poland and did not speak English. My mom was also named that. I was also told in very old Polish tongue it meant Angel or Daughter of Heaven also. Not sure if that the truth but being my great gramma names me I have no reason to not believe it🤣…or at least it’s a good story anyways

Adesta comes from the Latin word adeste, which means to gather or come together. I named my daughter this as she is our last child and united our families.

Technically it's a compound of as "to" and este "y'all be (as I tell you)" which meant effectively "y'all come (here now!)" or as the carol puts it "come ye!"

Hi Kelly,I've never seen that name in Germany (or anywhere else...). If it is German, it might be a form of a name beginning with Adel- like Adelheid, Adelhild, Adelgund etc.???Regards, Satu

Well, the Latin for "O Come All Ye Faithful" is "Adeste Fideles", which could be pronounced Adesta with a bit of a push. Was she a Christmas baby, perhaps?
