In my accent (Australian), Isobel and Isobel are pronounced:

'S' as in laser
'O' or 'A' as in zebra or lion - this is a neutral unstressed vowel sound known as a schwa (usually written 'uh' on BtN).
'B' as in bird
'E' as in bed
'L' as in leg

So, yeah - exactly the same when said out loud. But they sound different in my head :-D

IZ-o-bel, which in the way I say it is similar to IZ-a-bel, but it's certainly a (noticeably) different name.

ee-zo-bel - which is why I would never use a "o"!

However, one of my grandmothers, who started life as Isabella, ended as Isobel and hers was pronounced just like Isabel.

'IZ-uh-bell'...m.

Isobel, Isabel, Isabelle are all pronounced the same.

I would assume it's pr. the same as Isabel, but I do tend to give it a shade more of an "o" sound, though not completely. (I don't know how to write that phonetically.)

As I see it--instead of Isabel, I'd say with an o. But if I say it too many times, I might bet Isabel out of it. Pretty name.
