I much prefer Duncan.

It puts me in mind of an early medieval bishop - I can't get the image of a mitre and staff out of my head. It sounds stuffy to me - sorry! - I don't like it at all.

Dunstan always sounds like a town in the south of England to me. I think it's because I think of Dunstable when I see it but other than that I've no idea why. It just sounds like one of these little southern English towns with a country pub, medieval church, thatched roofs and possibly a market that's been held for hundreds of years - Upper Dunstan or Dunstan Magna or Dunstan-on-*RiverName*, something like that.

ETA: It's doesn't sount trendy to me. Quite the opposite - I'd lump it with Edgar, Wilfrid, or Ethelred etc.

My first thought was Macbeth!
I prefer Duncan. Dunstan is too similar to Dustin for my liking.
But it works with your other boys names I think.

It reminds me of a movie about a monkey or chimp called Dunstan Checks In, which is the only time I've ever heard the name.
