I used to really, REALLY like this name, but in all the polls a year and a half or so ago, everyone hated it. And on the boards it didn't get a good response either, though I don't remember the boards all that much from that time. I was just thinking about it today, since Siri posted about Alma. Why don't people like this name? It's not something I'd use personally, but it does look really pretty. I'd use Mira or Mirabella instead.

But anyway, WDYTO Almira and why do you think people dislike it so much?

It's not awful but I much prefer Amira.

I think Almira is sweet. But the Looney Tunes character sort of ruined it for me. I always hear it said in a whiney, annoyed tone, same with Angelica.

Thanks for correcting me. It's been a long time since I've seen the shows, but Almira still reminds me of the character.

I don't hate it but I don't love it either. I prefer Alkira or even Allira.

I don't know why I'm not a fan of the name Almira. I really like the name Mira, though. I actually just named the main character of my latest novel Mira today, so who knows.
