[Opinions] Victor
This is growing one me. I find it elegant, yet simple and clean, but is it maybe a bit pretentious?

I know a boy who's nearly one year old with this name. I must admit it's not a name I ever thought about that much, before I met him! I quite like the name now.

It's not pretentious at all, seriously. I much prefer Viktor, though. Victor looks very feminine to me indeed, most likely because of Victoria. Just dropping the "ia" from the end isn't enough to change the gender for a name, at least for my preferences. Also, whenever I see Victor I (for unknown reasons) want to pronounce is VIS-tor. Viktor is so dramatically masculine and eastern European that I see no confusion. My favorite combo is Viktor Constantine.

Victor is growing on me, too! I really like it. I don't really care if names sound "pretentious."

Always loved it!I've loved this name since I was a little kid, and I still love it as much as I did then! I don't think it's pretentious at all. It really is elegant, simple, and clean.

I like it. It's known, but not overly used. I love to see / hear these kinds of names being rediscovered. As an aside, I love the combinaiton Victor Emmanuel. There was an Italian king with this name once. I think from the north, Savoy, but don't quote me on that. I thought that was an inspired combination of names. Victor I usually think of as hard and rugged. I wouldn't have thought that a soft name like Emmanuel would would work with it. But to me it really comes together nicely. Perhaps the king is too well known to use this combination for a real kid -- hopefully not. But I just had to mention it.

there were 3 of themThey started out as kings of Piedmont of the Savoy dinasty, then Victor Emanuel II became king of the whole of Italy when the country united in 1860s. I think it would be a rather infortunate combo on a real kid, esp. one part-Italian as my hypothetica future kids would be, lol. Victor Emanuel III was king during WWII and has a terrible reputation because he allowed Mussolini to become dictator and fled the country after the Allied invasion.
I do like Emanuel as well very much, incidentally.

I like it!My son (6) likes it too. It's one of the names he like to say he is going to change his name to when he grows up :0) I think it's very handsome.
