[Opinions] I have a major softspot for Chrysanthemum
It's because way back when (I was probably 5 years old) we had this book, Chrysanthemum by Keven Henkes. It was the sweetest book ever. It was about this little mouse named Chrysanthemum who loved her name until her first day of school, when all the Bobbys, Marys and Suzies started making fun of her for it. In the end (*SPOILER ALERT* lol) her pregnant teacher (named Delphinium) announces that she will name her baby the prettiest name she's ever heard. Chrysanthemum. I absolutely adore this name as a result of the book. Sometimes I think back and wonder if it was this story that shaped me into the namenerd I am today. In retrospect, it was probably a combination of Chrysanthemum and Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel, a book about a boy named Tikki Tikki Tembo No Sa Rembo Chari Bari Ruchi Pip Peri Pembo and his unfortunate adventures with such a burdenous name. I loved those books. Anyway, I much prefer Chrysanthemum to Chrysanthia because the latter seems very frilly and girly to me. I don't like Chrytanta much, either. I guess I'm just really used to plain old Chrysanthemum. But it was definately a type of flower WAY before being a type of firework. Here's a link to the Chyrsanthemum book:
