[Opinions] Hershey and Female
These are two baby girls born at the hospital where my aunt works.
Hershey Chocolate, LN Carmel (car-MEL).
Female, pronounced feh-MALL. Apparently the mother thought the gender was the name someone had given her baby and the pronunciation was how she thought it was pronounced.

I wouldn't want to be called Hershey Chocolate. Imagine being sick with the flu or something and you don't even want to *think* about food, and everyone's calling you "Chocolate". :-(
Female as a name is just kind of scary...
OT: Is your sig from a Garth Brooks song?

Yeah, my sig is part of the refrain from "That Summer" by Garth Brooks. It's my favorite song. Do you like his songs?
Yes, I do
...Although not that particular one. :-P Funny, I'd always thought the title of that was "Burning Both Ends of the Night". But I was never good at guessing titles...
I love "Standing Outside the Fire" and "Good Ride Cowboy". Oh, and "Wrapped Up in You" and "The Dance". I have to be in the right mood for Garth Brooks, though.

Hmm... I always thought the last one at least was an urban legend, I think it's on snopes. Come on, who is really *that* ignorant, in this day and age?
Female is an urban legend that's been around for years. It is possible there is a real woman named Female some place, but no one has ever been able to give me proof of it. And the part of the story that blames it on the ignorance of the mother is the hallmark of most urban legends about names. So I'm very skeptical about that being true.
Hershey, on the other hand, fits in with all the other surnames ending in -y like Delaney, Riley, Ashley, Shirley, Beverly, etc. that have become girls' names over the years, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it used as a name. Though I think I'd need more proof for the combination "Hershey Chocolate Carmel" than a posting on an Internet bulletin board, especially since Carmel is rare as a surname (though it does evidently exist).
And the other hallmark of urban legends is that the huge majority of people who repeat them aren't "making them up"-- they really have been told them by someone else. It's just that when you try to track down any real evidence for them they end up told by "a friend of a friend of a friend" and you never get back to the original source. :)

Actually I think both could exist [m]
I've seen Anal once I can believe Female, LOL. Did you get this off a site? or is it real?
and after what I've seen in BA's NOTHING suprises me

I'm just repeating what my aunt told me. I don't think she is one to make up stuff either. Not really imaginative or collected. The Female one could be a joke, but I'm pretty sure Hershey Chocolate is real.
Hmm either way poor kid, lol

Yes, but one of those is used commonly in another culture, and the other isn't.
Sure, there could be a Female out there. But she probably wasn't born at Megan's aunt's hospital. And Megan's not to blame if she didn't know that this is a story that's bandied about with some regularity, but it doesn't make it any less annoying to hear againagainagain. :-/

Exactly
Stating something is an urban legend does not equate that we think Megan is lying.
Definition of Urban Legend:
An urban legend is a form of modern folklore consisting of stories thought to be factual by those circulating them. The term is often used to mean something akin to an "apocryphal story." Like all folklore, urban legends are not necessarily false, but they are often distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized over time

I never said people thought she lied, but she never said it was an urban legend either so I wanted to clear that up :). That's why I said she [as far as I know] doesn't make things up, but maybe she got it off a site.

true
I've heard the female one before
I've even heard it as twins, Male (Mah-lee) and Female (Fe-mah-lee). :P
Never heard the Hershey one before, but like VickyBliss said, it sounds like an urban legend.

Ditto
Have you ever heard of Usnavy (prn. OOS-nah-veh)? The story goes his parents were Cubans coming over to the United States and the mother decided to name her son the first thing she saw in the US, hence Usnavy = US Navy. I heard that one on Mind of Mencia, it made me laugh.

I haven't heard that one, but it's similar to the Lemonjello / Orangejello one, since she named them after something she just randomly happened to see.
Somehow I find these both really unbelievable
And in the realm of urban legend.
Especially the Female one.

I can believe the Hershey one really easy.
That doesn't seem too out there at all for me. Amusing but not unimaginable.
The Female thing's been floating around on the internet for ages, though. Probably your aunt heard it somewhere and thought it would be an easier story to tell if it was from her point of view and not her friend's cousin's friend's boyfriend's or whatever.
