It still seems trendy to me, simply because though the spelling Michaela may not be popular around here, the multitude of alternative spellings (McKayla, Mikayla, Makayla, etc.) inundate the BAs. I don't believe I've gone a week without seeing a variation of Michaela in the BA section of one of the newspapers that I get. Also, since the 'Mc/Mac' seems so trendy, Michaela is just untouchable for me in the meantime.
I really, really wish it weren't so trendy because I do think that I like it.

I agree with what you've written here. I love the name, and I think its very pretty, but it bothers me that its been lumped in with the "Mc" and "-ayla" names.
Of the combos you mentioned, I like Michaela Josephine, Michaela Bridget, and Michaela Gretchen. Thanks!
