[Opinions] Lainey/Laney
Do you like Lainey? or Laney? BTN says it is a diminuative of Elaine.. Can Lainey stand on it's own? What about Lane? or Laine?

As a nickname for Elaine it's cute. On its own it's trashy. I mean come on can you imagine a 20 year old woman named Laney ? It would be so embarrassing to have this name as a woman. As a child it's okay but as a woman ? I think she wouldn't be taken seriously. If you have to use it on its own I'd go with Laney. Lane is much better on its own than Laney but I also prefer it as a nickname for something.
I love Lanie which is essentially the same and I think it can stand on its own, but is a bit too cutesy. I think it would be great as a nn for Lane which I definitely think stands on its own.
I saw a little girl where I used to work called Lainey/Laney, I don't know if it's a nickname. I think it's a cute name but probably would be better as a nickname
I personally love Laney, but its more of a guilty pleasure for me.
I really don't think Laney can stand on its own, and I don't like any of its longer versions... Elaine (reminds me of Seinfeld), Elaina and Helena just aren't my style and Delaney is too surnamey, masculine sounding to me...
I also am scared of the popularity/trendiness factor... I think we are going to start seeing more Laney's (and Lainey's and Laynee's and Layni's...) I'm kind of afraid it might be the next MILEY.
