[Opinions] Re: Scottish BAs
in reply to a message by Lethe
Effie Jane (Finn + Ben) - In theory I like Effie, but in practice it is WAY too similar to "effing". I also wouldn't put it in a sibset with Finn.
Martha Christine (Samuel) - Really like this, and good sibset.
Orla Ann - Okay, but Ann is boring.
Mollie Violet Ann (cousins Ethan + Kailim) - Kailim is weird. Mollie looks odd with ie at the end, but it's an okay combo.
Mhairi Fiona * - I like this one too! Mhairi is lovely.
Kirsty Ailsa (Calum) - Would've preferred Ailsa Kirsty, but OK.
Kirsty Alexandra - Switch around again.
Iona Chelsea (Haydn) - Iona bothers me quite a lot. Haydn is a weird first name too. Unless it's supposed to be like Hayden?
Penelope Louise - Very nice.
Isabelle Evelyn Rose - Yawn. Isabelle and Rose : /
Anna Marie Siobhan (Aidan) - Really like this one.
Drew Marie (Fern) - Drew on a girl? : /
Loelle Susan - Loelle is weird, Susan nice to see.
Mia Suranne (brother Jude Daniel, cousin Nell Edie Rose) - Not particularly impressed with any of the combos, although I love Edie.
Fern Hannah (Isla + Maya) - Nice sibset, not bad combo.
Robin Jane Ruby (William) - Seems a bit of a randomly stuck together combo.
Eloise Gillian Fiona (Milena) - Interesting, I quite like it.
Cassie Martha Nina (Lucienne + Joe) - Quite like this too.
Chelsey Nicole Millie (Tracy, Peter, Joseph, Samantha, Joshua, Kacey and Owen) - Don't like it at all. The sibset doesn't appeal either.
Zara Anne - Don't like the flow.
Mica - On a girl?
Arianna Elizabeth (Olivia + Archie) - I love Arianna. Unless they're saying AH-na, in which case I hate it. Don't like either sibling.
Eve Alexandra Joy * - Good name.
Saffron Amber [obviously their golden girl] - Haha, themey indeed.
Cora-Mae (Sheridan) - Not half bad.
Rhian Katie (Jon + Caitlin) - Rhian confuses me pronunciation-wise.
Beth Isobel (Alastair) - Two Elizabeth names in one?
Miranda Brighid (Olivia) * - Meh. Don't particularly like any of the names.
Mirren Grace * - Reminds me of Helen Mirren.
Lara Ellen - Like it.
Aria Magenta [wow, arty] - Interesting combo!
Marcus Peter - Good combo.
Samuel Rory * - Good combo, not in love with Rory.
Jensen Heath - Dislike both names greatly.
Jordan Joseph - Hate Jordan.
Jonas Jack Benedict Fox [I assume Fox might be a family surname] - Gosh, leave some names for the rest of us! :p
Caelan Colin [a bit close, no?] - I agree with you. Too close.
Miles Austin - Meh. Dislike Austin greatly.
Louis Forbes (Amber + Olivia) - Louis I like, but hope Forbes has a significance.
Arran Jack [Arran seems to getting quite popular since I started doing this] - Yay, Isle of Arran! Don't like it as a name though.
Rohan Alfie - Could grow on me.
Leo Stephen - Great names, not sure about together. Too much "ee".
Dominic Liam * - William would've been a better mn.
Lincoln David - Dislike Lincoln.
Leon David - Good.
Finn George - I like this one a lot.
Max Maurice - Maurice I dislike, Max is great.
Jude Hugh Thomas (Emma Sophia) - Dislike the "oo" sounds together, but like all the names. More interesting than his sister.
Adam Iver Patrick (Alastair + Elizabeth) - Ivor would be better, but it's a good combo.
Murray John (Claire + Abbi) - Dislike Murray.
Coinneach Angus - Ok, not fabulous. Nice change though.
Gregor Douglas - I like the mn.
Lyle Blair - Lyle has quite a nice sound. Blair = Tony.
Edward Fraser Eric - Okay. I like Edward anyway.
Dre Hugo (Charley) - Dre?
Twins:
Olivia + Murryn [why did they have to stick the y in there?] - Murryn is seriously odd, and Olivia is boring.
Vivienne + Justine (Martin) - Feels dated.
Rannoch Isaac + Struan Isaac - Okay, but they don't feel very name-ish words.
Mairi + Angus (Matthew) - Okay. Too many "a" sounds.
Logan Matthew + Brooke Elizabeth - Very American imo.
Thanks for sharing :)

lol, I never even noticed Effie and Finn together! Finn's the oldest so hopefully he'll always come first :)
Out of interest, why does Iona bother you?

Iona sounds like "I own a...". It probably wouldn't bother me if I were actually speaking to Iona, but when I say it in my head it sounds funny.
I once knew a girl called Iona Condon
So long as parents have the sense, as those of the poor girl above did not, to couple it with a name that isn't or doesn't sound like a noun, I think Iona is too well known for people to analyse it like that all the time.
