I am very partial to Laela and I think Laelia would be a cute nickname, but I think it's a tad excessive for a given name.
Instinctively, I pronounce it Layl-YAW. Then again, I pronounce Laela as Lay-LAH; if you've ever heard any Farsi, think of that with a Persian lilt and you will understand how I am pronouncing each name. The Arabic pronunciation is just a little bit too harsh for me.
I think it is a usable name. Like I said, I would prefer it as a diminutive, but to each her own. =)
