Isabel(-le,-la)
Emily (
Emma)
RoseSophiaJosieJessieNorahMadelineLily(...and the list goes on...)
These names are obviously enjoying new appeal...to a nauseating extent.
(---unfortunately, some , like Emma/Emily and Isabel-and the many variations-- have spread like THE PLAGUE and have become SOOOOO tired and redundant...)
Apparently no one seems to care that these names are connected with many senior citizens in our population.
I have ALWAYS thought of the above listed names as "old ladyish names" and still do.
--especially since there are many elderly women in my family/life who have those very names!
*I have also known two elderly "Pearls".
People these days must see older names as romantic...they think of characters from old love stories and of lovely young ladies from days gone by...
They certainly must not think of those very people all withered and in nursing homes(---sadly, many people these days don't really think of the aging population much at all!)
I suspect
Pearl will grow in popularity.
I do not, however think it will ever be cliche as
Emma or
Emily.
It does not have the "frilly" appeal the others do.
(Thank Gawd)
I think you may be safe...hope I am right.
