I know what you mean about "unwieldy Spanish Catholic names." They are a subset of my personal quirk, "obscure medieval saint names."

Consuelo is especially gorgeous, to my ears. It's the "sway-lo" that gets me every time. :-D

Bernardino, but it's a minor quibble.
As for
Buenaventura (masculine?), again I'm more drawn to Benvenida, a feminine name. I came across the name in a history book. Benvenida Abravanel was a Spanish (turned Italian) woman of the Renaissance. I fell in love with her name instantly. Do you like it? Given my love for Benvenida, it's too difficult to switch gears and like
Buenaventura, especially if it's supposed to be masculine. I have no problem with "gender inappropriate endings" like this.
Columba is a favorite Irish boy's name for me. It's just, as I said, my previous love for Benvenida makes the transition harder.
