[Opinions] Imperiosa?
We did a class on names in my Rome class today (my Roman name is Dorothea Piscatoria Calida, even though Dorothea is really Greek...) and we got a long sheet of various cognomen and their meanings. I came across Imperiosa and I'm really stuck on it now. Is it too weird? I'm worried it's a little too bizarre even for me. I really like it though.
Lydia Imperiosa? Amy Imperiosa? Viola Imperiosa? Silva Imperiosa? Oliva Imperiosa? Vivian Imperiosa? Livia Imperiosa? Linnet Imperiosa? Katharina Imperiosa?
Hmm. Heh, Katharina Imperiosa. That's a pretty perfect description of the title character from Taming of the Shrew...
So what do you think? Imperiosa? Is it cool as a middle name, or just too weird? Other combo suggestions?

It's cool. Nah, I don't think anything os too weird as a middle name. Maybe. I do agree it sounds like the Imperius curse from HP. :-D
I love flicking through that list that Tippins posted, and I find the history portal on Wiki is heaps of fun to look for obscure cognomen.
Hmm. Amy Imperiosa is neat because I don't think of Amy as an imperious sort of a name. I also quite like Katharina Imperiosa.

Please forgive me for this, but the first thing that I notice about Imperiosa is the -iosa...which, well, it reminds me of a spell from Harry Potter.
So I'm a bit of a dork.
As a mn I actually like it. It's light and intimidating all at once, it's like grey clouds over head- if that makes anysense what so ever. Katharina Imperiosa and Silva Imperiosa gmv.

hmm, no
It makes me think of "imperious" too much, and I just picture a really bossy person, or a spoiled brat of a child who always wants to have her way.

That was my first though as well.

I think it is a pretty cool mn. Never as a first name though. It is pretty weird though, and I think you'd get a lot of raised eyebrows. However, I still like it. It would make for a good character name in a novel I think.
Livia Imperiosa has a good ring to it I think.

It's a bit much, but it's lots of fun to play with. All those vowels and fun consonants. Silva's definitely the best from your list.
Posie, Perrie, Imp, Rosie! Such fun.
I am going to pore over this now http://www.novaroma.org/wiki/Choosing_a_Roman_name

Oh, I'm enjoying that website. It must be where Paul got our list of cognomen, too.
