Help[Opinions] Blanche?
Lately I have been drawn to Blanche, bet I'm not sure why. I have always associated it with old ladies, but I also think it is simple and elegant. What are your impressions? Also, what do you think of Blanche as the sister of Peter? Please be honest.

It's used occasionally where I live, nearly always Marie-Blanche.Though the person is often just called Blanche. (Pronounced in French, of course.)

I don't like it. It doesn't have a beautiful sound and doesn't seem very feminine. I love Peter, so I really can't say anything to that.

I do see its appeal. I think of it along the same lines as Maude.

I really think it's, unattractive.
It reminds me of a cooking term, "blanching." And also, "branch" comes to mind.

I was in a museum once. There was a glass case containing a rather dingy, crude crown / coronet. The sign said it belonged to an English princess named Blanche in the 12th / 13th century and she brought it with her to Bavaria to marry the local big-wig. All of a sudden I could picture a real life Blanche traveling all that way and it charmed me into liking Blanche.
I met a little Blanche once. (She was named after an aunt who had died.) She'd be about 30 by now. I was too young to appreciate old fashioned names back then. Now I think it's a sweet name.
Pete is my # 1 favorite name for a boy. Blanche and Peter go perfectly well together. But I'm a name nerd. Most people probably won't like it.

I like it. I, personally, wouldn't use it for a child, but I do like it.

I waver on Blanche. I have gone through periods in which I really really like, then I tend to back off and not like it as much. Right now I'm in the latter, so I'm not loving it, but I have no doubt it'll grow on me again (OT: Anyone else waver on a name like this?). I think it's very elegant, but it just sounds like such an . . . explosion from the mouth. Does that make sense? That being said, I think it sounds fine as a sister for Peter, although putting it with Peter sort of diminishes the elegance a bit (while I like the name Peter, it's very much an "average Joe" type name to me).

Blanche is usable but it just honestly makes me think of Rue McClanahan's character on the Golden Girls which isn't really a good thing.
