What do you think of Martina with the nn Marta or Martie? Is Marta as a stand alone name better than Martina?

I love Martina, but I don't think it needs a nickname. I also love Marta on its own, but I don't prefer one name over the other.

I have nothing against Martina. It's just that my brother's name is Martin and it feels weird to me saying Martin with an "a" stuck to the end. I definitely like Marta much better. Marta is absolutely lovely. :)

I really don't care for Martina. Marta is better, imo. My mother-in-law is named Marta.

I don't particularly care for Martina. It sounds a little dated. I love Marta, though, and would be very happy to see it as a full name.

I agree. Martina sounds dated, and also a little U.S. hick-ish. All I can really think is of the country singer, so of everything country basically.
Marta is just gorgeous. I love it, and it's brilliant as a full name.
