I do remember someone here mentioning Clarence on a girl a long time ago. I don't think it sounds terrible as such.
I can see that poncy image of Clarence, even though I am in Scotland (and it's never been much used here, in literature or otherwise). Hmm. It may have to be consigned to the guilty pleasure pile :)
