[Opinions] Napoleon!
Opinions on the name Napoleon, please? Is it still too associated with the movie Napoleon Dynamite. Any nickname possibilities, and middle names that sound nice?

Yes, it's still associated with Napoleon Dynamite and even if it wasn't I wouldn't use it... not so attractive a name for real life... better left as a GP

I don't like it because....It just sounds weird and I associate with Naopoleon Bonaparte more so than Napoleon Dynamite (I hate that movie though.)

I agree... that had to be one of the lamest movies I've ever seen... If I hadn't been there with a friend, I would have gotten up and walked out. The only thing it's any good for is making fun of later on. Plus, my brothers had said it was such a hilarious movie, so I was grossly disappointed with how dull it was.

I definitely think of Napoleon Bonaparte before Napoleon Dynamite. And because of Napoleon Bonaparte, I think it would be a tough name with which to go through life. If you like it, it might be a better middle name choice.

Let's have a mini history lesson, shall we? Napoleon Bonaparte tried to dominate the entire European continent, ultimately failed, and was exiled by the British to the island of St. Helena, where he lived out his final years.Napoleon Dynamite, though a popular cultural icon, was a ridiculous movie/character/piece of evidence that shows just how sad the state of modern entertainment is.In conclusion, nothing good comes out of the name Napoleon. If you name a child this, he is destined for failure. Let's consider other names...like Atilla or Genghis!

Thing is Genghis was a very bitter and cruel individual... not that Atilla was Mr. Congeniality either... (and I wouldn't go the Napoleon route either... even if not for the overambitious European or the really lame movie that even made the Mr. Bean movie seem rather intelligent).

I totally agree. And wonder if anybody really thinks of Napoleon Dynamite before they think of, well, the Napoleon. LOL. :)

Perhaps people under 25 might... or those who've recently had the movie inflicted on them.

I'm under 25.In fact, I'm 16. This does not, however, mean that I automatically think of Napoleon D. instead of Napoleon B., as you'll see from my last post on this topic. =) There are still *some* educated teenagers in this world!

that's where the key words "perhaps" and "might" come in... by no means does it mean all under 25 will think of ND before NB... just that those are the most likely to think of it because that's the age group that has a bunch of people obsessed with the movie for reasons beyond my understanding... However, not everyone in that age group has fallen into the obsession...
Either way, I wouldn't choose the name.
