[Opinions] pronunciation of "E" in Evangeline
I just wanted to see how others pronounced Evangeline. Our little daughter is named Evangeline & I pronounce the "E" at the beginning softly, like the "Eh" in Evelyn or Evan. But a lot of people say the "E" like the letter E or the "E" in Eva. How do you say it? Are both ways correct?

I would say e-VAN-ge-leen.
I say eh-VANGE-uh-lynn
This is how my cousin pronounces her new baby's name.
I prefer this pron. over any others...

EE vange uh leen.
I'm a little different from your pronunciations all over the board, though I wouldn't necessarily assume mine were more correct than yours are. I can wrap my mind around your interpretations pretty easily. Personally I go with:
Evangeline: EE
Evelyn: Eh (same as yours)
Eva: AY
Evangeline: EE
Evelyn: Eh (same as yours)
Eva: AY
i say EE.
(ee-van-juh-leen)
(ee-van-juh-leen)
I pronounce it with the "E" as in Eva sound, but I think the "Eh" sound is equally correct. It's just a matter of preference, I guess. By the way, your daughter has a lovely name.
I'm not sure what the correct way is, but I say it Eh-, like in Evelyn and Evan. It's a gorgeous name, and I hope to use it as one of future DD's middle names (Xanthe Lyric Evangeline). Your daughter has a lovely name :)
I pronounce it like you do.
ee-VAN-ge-leen or ee-VAN-ge-line
yeah, it's an ee sound as in Eva. I think both pronunciations are fine.

I pronounce it ə-VAN-jə-leen, the ə being a soft neutral vowel sound.
tritto. AND I like the name, btw ;).
Ditto.
Thanks for all of the compliments! We think she has a great name, too! I was dying to use it (I have two boys, so I had been "saving" the name for awhile now).
