I pronounce it with a long I sound, which I would write out as BLITHE. BLAITHE looks like the vowel sound should be a long A.
To me:
Long I = I (as in mine)
Short I = ih (as in sit)
To me:
Long I = I (as in mine)
Short I = ih (as in sit)

Well, I don't mean a short I as in sit. Thats why I said I had a hard time explaining. I suppose I mean more of a dragged out Blyythe or a short Blyth.
