Help[Opinions] Nellie
Do you think that this name will be revived? I see it on a spunky character; my mother's mother (Natalie Marie, usually called Nellie) definitely influenced my view of this name. Since grandma passed on just over a year ago, we've gotten a kitten and named her Nellie. I can definitely see this name on a little girl, even if it's just a pet name.

I have a grandma called Nellie Grace, but she always gets called Ciss. I have no idea why though or where that name came from! I can see Nellie on a little girl these days. It would be cute.

Nellie makes me think of a horse, but Nel is an ok nn.

These types of old-fashioned nick-namey names, like Millie, are coming back in style, so I can definately see a resurgence of Nellie.
I would prefer it as a nickname for Penelope. I think Nellie, Nell, and Penelope are all coming back.

As a nickname it's fine, although I prefer just 'Nell'.

I love Nellie, mainly as I did the show South Pacific and loved it, my own great-grandmother was Ellen "Nell" so I think its really pretty and definately due for a revival.

I think it's sweet, and I could see it getting more popular in the future too. I think it's a bit too nicknamey to be used on its own though. My favorite full names for it are Eleanor and Penelope.

It's always possible for a name to come back, so I would say yes it has the potential. But I couldn't tell you if it will be anytime soon. I personally like it as a nickname for Eleanor. I recently discovered my great-great grandmother was named Nellie Irene! I have fallen in love with that combo.
