I've always admired Bertha (my petite great-grandmother bore the name) and I recently discovered the French Berthe (roughly "BAIR-tuh"). What are your opinions on the name?

I prefer Bertha.

Freaky.
I was talking to a co-worker this morning about Berthe. She was saying how her grandmother's name was Bertha Gertrude. I gave her the German pronunciation of both. She said they were much better than in English. I said that overall I prefer the French pronunciation. She agreed. It's weird to see Berthe come up on this site. I had another freaky coincidence this morning too.
Anyway. Berthe is gorgeous. I love the "behr-" sound in it, as you can see from my pseudonym. Berthe is so elegant. I love German names anyway. And when the French take one and alter it that just adds another layer of "oh, goodie" to it all.
