[Opinions] Jessalee?
I posted about the name Jessiah (for a girl) the other day... well I have recently thought of Jessalee, too, which I really like!
What are your thoughts on this name?
I like how Jessiah LOOKS more but how Jessalee SOUNDS more... Also thought of Jessella (sorta like Gisella)...
Thoughts???
Also as for mn's, I *think* I have it down to Lyric, Madeline, Justice or Jayne. Also like Anna....
Big decision and time is running out!

Lyric as a mn gmv.
Hmm... I'm not a big fan of Jessalee. To me, it looks like someone thought Jessica wasn't cool enough, so they put a -lee at the end instead. Jessie is the Scottish pet form of Jean, so I'd vote for Jean Lyric, but I admit that's a bit impractical, because who in America who isn't a name nerd knows that? I kinda like this idea od Jessella, but it looks silly, and Jessilla looks silly (heck, it almost had the word silly in it, lol -- Jesilla isn't as bad, for some reason).
Hmm... other made-up Jess names...
Jesora/Jessora?
Jesann/Jessann
Jesiana/Jessiana
Jeselle/Jesselle
Jesla (reminds me of Tesla, hehe)
Jesana/Jessana/Jessanna/Jesanna
Or, a name with the "jes" sound in it? I've always liked Majesta (someone's feminizing of Majestic).
Arcadia
It's just an object. It doesn't mean what you think

Following a similar pattern, I thought I'd mentioned that I used to know a girl named Jessery. I have no idea where her name came from but it's another "Jess" name that I'm familiar with. "Jess" names aren't really my thing, though.

I don't really like Jessalee - it doesn't seem to have much substance to it. It doesn't work for me as a long name for 'Jessie' because it sounds like a pet name itself. But it's not terrible and I certainly prefer it to Jessiah, which has the form of a Hebrew *male* name so is off-putting to me (not to mention the teasing potential - "Jessiah the Messiah" - I don't think so lol!).
I really like someone else's suggestion of Jessenia - unusual, feminine and with a pretty meaning. One of the other suggestions, Jessamy, is also nice - it's another form of Jasmine but it's different enough not to clash with your friend's daughter's name.

I can't say I like any of them. Jess- names aren't my cuppa at all, though, which could be the problem. :) I think that Jess by its own is the only one I like at all.
Jessalee Lyric has a weirdly cute sound, though.

Yes, I like the sound of it. But I prefer Jessalyn or Jessamine.
And I prefer Gisella to Jessella.

I think Jesabel/Jezebel does have too many bad connotations.
Jessalee is all right, but it also seems sort of informal to me. It sounds very "Southern", which isn't bad...in fact, I sort of like it. But if you're looking for something a bit more formal, I'd suggest Jessamyn. It's unusual, but it's not "made up", and it also has a nice history (there's a wonderful author named Jessamyn West).

I have great faeth in BtN.

I love the name Jessey (that spelling only..it's a guilty pleasure) but for other Jess names I only like Jessa, Jessenia, Jessamine, and Jessalyn.
Have you soncidered Jessalyn? I reminds me of Jessalee, but not as made up sounding, imo. If you're set on Jessalee, maybe you should try spelling it Jessaly or Jessa Leigh / Jessa-Leigh or something. The Jessalee spelling looks too kre8tve to me.

I would use Jessalyn but can't for two reasons... I have a daughter named Raelyn (and two -lyns is too many)... and my best friend is giving birth to her first daughter (due in Dec) and has choosen the name Joslyn, and Jessalyn and Joslyn sound too similar.
I don't care for Jessa on it's own... I don't know how I feel about hyphens...
She's called Jessie (I'm adopting her)... I'd just use that as her proper name but almost every "Jessie" that I've spoken to has said she'll appreciate a more formal name as an adult...
Tough decision!
;~) Kelly
PS Jessie is three now, I asked her what names she likes and she just repeats whatever I say last... her only original suggestion was Elmo! LOL!

But what's wrong with Jessica?
Don't you like Jessica? Do you find it overused?
I also really like the suggestion of Jessenia, pretty and unusual but not made up. I think I've seen Jessamy somewhere too.

hehe..that's funny.

Wdyt of Jessenia or Jessamine? I love both.

I do foster care and am adopting my two foster children (which will make six adopted kids for me). The two kids came to me so young and we pretty much knew they'd go up for adoption, so I started calling them by nicknames that I wanted (Jessie and JoJo)... now the adoption will be complete in December so I need to have formal names picked out (which was easy for JoJo but is proving to be more difficult than I thought for Jessie.) Jessie's birth name is Laterrika Tytiyana... But she knows herself as Jessie!
I have another friend with a daughter named Jazmyn... and Jessamyn seems so similar to that! LOL! I guess as a group of friends we all have similar tastes in names, and they got to the good ones first! LOL!

I think Jessella is nice, not sure on Jessalee it might have to grow on me. :)
Jessalee or Jessella Jayne.

I just saw Jesabel... what are everyone's thoughts on that??!? Does Jezabel have too many neg. connotations?
*nods* Yes..sadly because it's a pretty name...
