[Opinions] Re: Skylar
in reply to a message by Lilol
Skylar and Skyla are getting VERY popular. The correct spelling is Schuyler, which looks much classier and much less trendier. It is also distinctly feminine, while Skylar can be masculine or feminine.

huh?How is it getting popular? It lost 26 places (Skylar) and 58! places (Skyler) compared to last year! Schuyler isn't in the top 1000 anymore at all and neither is Skyla. I think it's one of the quickest falling names out there, it's really really out of style at the moment. As for Sky and Skye, they are a bit more common but by no means can you call them popular (US, at least).Neither one of them has EVER made the top 100.All of those names peaked in the late 90s/eary 2000s. They even seem a bit dated to me already.Schuyler might be the original spelling, but in Dutch the pronunciation doesn't even come close to Skylar or Skyler, so it's just a mispronunciation, really. I still like it best, though.
