Kateryna is lovely. I would keep Katrusya as a pet name, not a formal one. Kateryna is more user-friendly as she navigates through the world.
If you have your heart set on the Ukrainian version, then I'd keep it. It has history and meaning to it and is just as valid as the English variant. Some ethnic names don't "travel well." But Kateryna isn't so scary that it becomes unusable.
If she's uncomfortable with Kateryna (nn Katrusya), there's always the same set of English nn possibilites to fall back on: Kat, Kay, Kate, Kitty, Katya, etc., even Trina / Tryna and Tru.
