[Opinions] Re: Linda

So funny. My sister's name is Linda and I was thinking about making a post pretty much identical to yours! You beat me to it!Linda is one of those names that is SO tied to its era that it's difficult to judge it on its own merits. It's so tied to the forties and fifties because it wasn't an established name before then, it blasted out of nowhere to quickly become extremely popular, and then fell out of favor very quickly once the sixties hit. Like Gladys in 1900. You really have to try hard to put yourself back in say, 1940, when Linda was fresh, new, not overused to judge it, and that's very hard to do. I just can't do it, honestly. Every time I try, "Post WWII herd mentality" keeps going through my mind over and over.I've always felt a little bit of contempt for my mother that she named a baby Linda in 1952, when it was the number one name, to tell you the truth. Talk about a herd mentality and no imagination. As to whether or not it will ever come back, I don't know. I can't say that I think there's anything ugly or really wrong with it, so I don't think there's any reason not to use it these days, when it's no longer popular. A little Linda would really stand out nowadays.
