What do you think of Jaime for a boy, NOT pronounced the Spanish way, but pronounced JAY-MEE? In other words, just like Jamie? But spelled Jaime? As a full name?

Depends on where you live.
If you're in the southwest, Jaime is going to be pronounced the spanish way.
There's a huge boom in the population of spanish speaking immigrants, in the southwest, many schools have a majority of kids who come from spanish speaking homes, even in other states, 10-30% of the kids in school are native spanish speakers, so a boy named Jaime is going to have his name pronounced the spanish way much of the time.
I get really annoyed my youngest son's name gets mispronounced by his spanish speaking teacher all the time. She has a very strong spanish accent and says all of the kids' in the classes' name with a spanish flair.

To be honest, I'm not fond of Jaime nor Jamie on a boy; it's so... borderline androgynous.

I really like Jaime, but prefer this spelling on a girl (it looks more feminine IMO, maybe because I associate it with the French 'J'aime'). I think Jamie works better on a boy. I think it's fine as a full name; it has more substance somehow than other nns-as-full names.

Jaime pronounced JAY MEE is outright confusing!
I see this a lot and wonder why the parents just didn't go the traditional route and use Jamie. So easy. Jamie is a nickname long used as a full name in Scotland and other countries. I don't feel Jamie requires James given its history of use but I then I adore James also.

I prefer the spelling Jamie. I like it short for James.

Really don't like it at all. I would assume that Jaime was either a girl, or it was pronounced the Spanish way.

If it's prn like Jamie, spell it that way. Jaime makes me prn it the spanish way and I dn't like it. At all. :P

My ex-boyfriend's name was Jaime. He was Portuguese and because no one could pronounce it, he pronounced it the English way, so JAY-mee. I liked it better in Portuguese but English is okay, too, even though it sounds more like a nickname that way. As long as it's only used on a boy, acceptable, I think.

I don't like it. I do love Jamie for a boy and would prefer it as a nickname, but if I saw Jaime on a boy I'd assume they were Hispanic. Or a girl.

Well, I'm a girl, and this is my name so I'll let you know how I feel.
I think Jamie is absolutely adorable on a boy. If it wasn't my name, even though I'm spelled differently, I would use it in a heartbeat. However, if you spell it Jaime, he will be constantly correcting people his whole life as in "No,not HIE-may, JAY-mee." And he will have to spell it out and deal with people mispelling it any way.
It's beyond tedious. So, while I love Jamie, if you're going to name a boy that, give him the small mercy of having the easily recognizable spelling.

Who pronounces it HIE-may? I don't know of anyone who would do that (I live in the U.S.)

Jaime, pronounced HIE-may, is the Spanish version of James, in the same way that Juan, pronounced WON, is the Spanish version of John. So to Spanish speaking people, Jaime is a male name pronounced HIE-may. English speaking people tend to think of it as a girl's name pronounced JAY-mee.
Jaime, pronounced JAY-mee, is my nephew's full name. It's always irritated me. I agree with some posters here that a full name of James with the nickname Jamie would have been better, but my sister didn't want James because she feared the nickname Jim. Why the spelling, I don't know.

Ugh, don't like it at all! All I see is the French, J'aime.

I dislike Jaime as a full name. Too juvenile. I'd go with James legally, and then call him Jaime if I wanted to.

Jaime prn. JAY-MEE strikes me as extremely feminine. However, I do like Jamie for a boy quite a bit as a full name. I would much rather see that than Jaime.
