I like it, but it's association with a) flowers and b) homosexuality probably put a lot of people off.

Lindy is a cute nickname, but I don't know what it'd be short for besides Linden.

I think she means the myth of Hyacinthus and Apollo (correct me if I'm wrong). (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/h/hyacinthus.html) (http://www.theoi.com/Heros/Hyakinthos.html) However, I don't think a lot of people would know about that, and if they did, I don't think it would matter.
