[Opinions] need help with pronunciation! xxx
I'm starting to get interested with the name 'Winema' but I'm not sure which way to pronounce it.
Some websites say 'weh NEE muh' and some say 'WIH nah muh' or 'WIH neh muh'
Does anyone know which is correct, or if they all are.
xxx
P.S - Do you prefer:
Winema (means 'chief')
Winona (means 'giving')

I don't know the pronunciation. If you know what Native American language it's from, be sure to add that info to your Facts Board post.
I would not want to be called Winema if it is pronounced WIN-eh-ma because it rhymes too much with enema. Wih-NEE-ma is nice.
BTN says the meaning of Winona is firstborn daughter, not "giving," by the way.
I've always liked Winona a lot, and I would've considered using it if not for the NO sound in it (I guess I'm neurotically anti-names-with-no-in-them even though I like some). I don't know if I like Winema any better. It could grow on me. I'm not instantly attracted to it, though. I just think it is nice.
