Asta (as-tuh) was the wire-haired Jack Russell terrier in 1930s Thin Man films starring William Powell & Myrna Loy.
It's OK. I prefer Esther.
I don't like the eggyness of Eglantine.

At first glace I'd pronounced Asta AS-ta (like hasta), but after clicking on it and seeing its origin, I'd pronounce it AHS-ta. I don't really like it, though it'd be a cute nn for Astrid.I think Eglantine is a freaking awesome name. It's so medievaly. Although it does sound like the name of an eggplant dish.

Asta (As-ta) - I like it but in Germany it's common as a dog's name. That's why i wouldn't use itEglantine (EG -lan-tee-ne) - I don't like it

I can only think of one wat to pronounce Asta. As-ta.Eglantine is a name I want to like, but I can't. It's the 'Eg.'
