Roxanne has an odd reputation in my family as being something of a "lost" name. My grandmother tried to use this name twice - once for her much younger sister, and then for her daughter, but was never able to convince anyone to let her. My aunt who was to be Roxanne uses it as a kind of pet name in the family.

I really like this name, but every time I bring it up, it gets bad reviews - especially by my mother, who starts bawling out Sting's "Roxanne" in the charming style of Roseanne Barr's National Anthem.
