My birth name was Katy and I changed it to Kate / Kay because no matter where I went, there were always people who dropped the 't' in Katy so that it sounds like kady or kay-i, and I HATED it! (not a huge fan of the name anyway). It's horrible when someone doesn't pronounce a name correctly because of their accent, though admittedly it may not be their fault.
