[Opinions] How do YOU pronounce....
Teresa? I'm saying it as teh-RAY-sah, but I've heard it as teh-REEZ-ah and teh-REES-uh too. Which is correct?

I say it tuh-RAY-suhBut wouldn't bat an eye if I was corrected to teh-REE-suh.I prefer Therese, pronounced tuh-RAY-suh

All of them can be correct depending on the language it is being used in. I prefer the first, but would say the other pronunciations.

I guess I would say it like teh-REEZ-ah.

I say Teh-REES-uh.

te-REE-sa...te-REE-sa is how it is in my accent. In Spanish and probably some other languages/accents it's te-RAY-sa. I've never heard te-REEZ-a before, som I'm not sure where thay say it that way.

"tuh-REES-uh".noooooo teeeeeexxxxxxt.

Te-RAY-za, but it's not really like 'ray'. It's more like the French 'é' sound.

Teh-reh-sahThat's how I would pronounce it. My sister's name is Terése and that's pronounced Teh-rehs.

Depends on where you live. I think in the US it would be teh-REES-uh.
Personally, I'd spell it Theresa and pronounce it te-REH-zah but that's just the German way ;)

teh-REE-sahBut I would pronounce it teh-REY-sah should the person say it should be pronounced that way (that's probably the Romance Languages' way of pronouncing it).

Teh-REE-sah.That's how we say it in my family(it's a family name) and in Ireland in general I guess. You don't hear it much here any more.

te-RE-sah.In German, that is. In English I've only ever heard te-REES-a.

The German pronunciation is teh/RAY/zah or teh/RAZ/sah and I pronounce it like that when I'm in Germany. In English I pronounce it teh/REE/sah.Both pronunciations are correct.I've never heard teh/REE/zah.

I pronounce Teresa / Theresa as teh-REE-sa and it really bugs me because I prefer the eh / ay pronunciation much better, knowing all along it won't be pronounced like that where I live. Lately, I've been loving Teresa with the nns Resa or Rese (long 'e' sound) so I'm coming to grips with it. ;-)With Mother Teresa (who I greatly admired), I automatically pronounce her name teh-RAY-sa because I've always heard it pronounced that way.Like many names (mine included), there is no one correct way to pronounce Teresa / Theresa.

I say teh-REES-uh, but it sounds more like TREE-suh

Ditto.

None of those is correct...In Spanish is Teh-reh-sah

It's not just a Spanish name. They are correct in other languages.

tə-REE-sə, but I'd be more inclined to pronounced Teresa like te-RE-sah because it looks Spanish or something without the H in it.

My pronunciation sits somewhere between te-REEZ-uh and te-REES-uh. But like Serafina says, they're all correct.

They are all correct....I know a European woman who pronounces it in between teh-REZ-ah and tur-RESS-ah.

DittoThat's how I pronounce it and how all the American Theresas/Teresas I know pronounce it.

I tend to say Teh-RAY-suh if it's spelled Theresa, and Teh-REEZ-uh or Teh-REES-uh if it's Teresa.

teh-rai-zah (shortly)

I say Teresa as teh-REEZ-ah, but Theresa as teh-RAY-sa.

My friend is Theresa, said as teh-rees-ah.

Heh. Well, I've known a few Theresa/Teresas and they all seemed to follow that pattern, but obviously not everyone does. SOme of them are really hilarious though, they insist that their way is the 'right' way to say/pronounce it, and when asked why, cannot defend themselves with anything better than 'that's how my parents said it/how I say it.', Similar things for other names, as well.
