[Opinions] Laure
This name has been on my mind lately. I was just interested in hearing some of your thoughts on it. It seems to fit very well with many of my favorite female names, and certain qualities about it are very attractive to me- such as its length, French origin, pretty & feminine sound, &c. The thing is, I love the way it sounds in French, but I am hesitant about the English pronunciation. Does the English take away the charm? Also, what do you think of the double name Mary Laure? How about Mary Lise? I can't really decide between the two.

I think it has a certain gallic sophistication; simple and classy.
I prefer Mary Laure to Mary Lise. It looks prettier.

I'd go with Marie-Laure - it seems more logical and keeps the pretty Frenchness of Laure. On its own in English, it sounds a bit too much like Law.

A French friend of mine lived in England and married a Scot; they were unable to have children and she said that this might be just as well because she'd always wanted a daughter named Laurence and it just wouldn't work in English and especially with their ln. I suggested Laure to her, and Laura, but neither appealed; especially Laure which she said would be misunderstood at every turn.
