It makes me think of the car, the Geo ("JEE-o"). But if that's not a car where you are, then fine as a nn. Wee boys grow up and deserve drown up names.

To me it seems like it could be Joe with a trendy spelling. Which is fine, just nms.

I like Gio as a nickname. Perhaps for Giovanni.

I saw your post and I just asked my husband (we were discussing names) 'Gio?' and he said, with a perplexed look, 'Go??' LOL! It was too cute :) I think Gio is cute for a little boy but would use it as his nn for Giovanni :)

I really like Geo as a nickname for George - I came across it a lot in the Mason's archives. Gio, however, is the name of my city's largest gay nightclub, so that colours my perception of the name Gio a tad. Not in a bad way, just in a "oh, you mean the gay club downtown" kind of way. It also comes across as very slick-Italian-mobster. It's a shiny black name - like pomaded hair.

It's simple and sweet, but it's not really my style! I like it! I would rate it 6.9/10.
