[Opinions] Seattle
I just came across a girl on facebook with this name and I have to say, I think it's super cool. I don't know if I'd ever have the guts to name my own kid this, or be able to bear it myself but it really caught my attention (in a good way) when I saw it. So WDYT? And what do you think of place names in general? :)
ETA: Would it be better as a mn?

:P I could see it on a boy, it IS a boy's name, since Seattle was named after the Indian chief in the area. Not on a girl though. yuck.
Sealth is another variant on the name; they are both Anglicizations of the original Salish which is very gutteral and difficult for English speakers.
I wouldn't use either on a kid; in Salish culture it's sacrilegious to speak a person's name after they die. Even the fact that the city was named after him is sacrilegious.
I live in Seattle.

Hehe, I'm from Seattle! So it's completely and totally a place name to me, like I can't at all picture it on a person because it's so much a city. It's easier for me to see place names as names for people when I haven't been there, I think, but even so some names just really don't seem like they translate well to people, and Seattle is one of those names to me.
That being said, I would be pretty excited to meet a Seattle, just because I adore that city. :D It's one of my favorite places.
As a mn it's awesome, but I'm pretty "anything goes" for middle names.

I think its crap to be honest. Maybe it is because I lived near Seattle for a small portion of my life. I just think of a huge monument, homeless people, and a lot of rain. I don't even think it sounds appealing. Why not just use an actual name?
