[Opinions] Apocalypse?
No I'm not even THINKING about using this but a girl on another site said she named her son this.
I think its kind of crazy. What about you?

does she know what the word means?
It's really crazy. I would never name my kid something that means 'end of the world.'
But I have to say -- it makes a fantastic GP. ;)

Horrible that poor child
I saw that
on Nameberry, right?
I looked for her other kids names (Apocalypse is her 5th), but couldn't find it. Apparently, he's being called Poly, which I can't say I like.
Apocalypse might be a cool GP-- but a pretty unusable one.

I reeeally want to know
what she named her other kids!!
what she named her other kids!!
Yep it was nameberry!
wow ok
That is one helluva name. I would be wicked scared to meet either an Apocalypse or an Apocalypse's parent. I'm imagining either people who live, breathe, and eat death-metal music or the most insane Bible cultists imaginable.
It's got a pretty sound to it I guess... ?

Was she joking? That's like naming your child "End of the World". If it's true she named her child that, I wonder if she even knew what it means.
ETA: And since I can't stop myself from imagining this sort of situation, imagine a parent telling the kid: "Apocalypse, stop it...Apocalypse, NOW." or something along those lines.

I feel compelled to point out that the word "apocalypse" actually means "revelation." Cultural context has given it the connotations of the end of the world depicted in the New Testament book Revelation, but it is not necessarily that. Apocalypse is a Jewish/early Christian literary genre from ~200 BCE - 200 CE that involves a revelation (often in a dream) of God's judgment unfolding, which usually involves a lot of mystical imagery.
Still, though, Apocalypse is a ridiculous name. Plus, if you wanted to name your baby such a thing, I think Eschaton (which really does mean "end times" in the apocalyptic sense) would make a much better given name.

Did that girl even know what Apocalypse means?
KIND of crazy? That poor kid is going to get raised eyebrows for the rest of his life.
How cruel.

All I have to say is poor, poor child.
