I heartily dislike both Abigail and Abby. Or Abbey.
I once mentioned on this board that I couldn't understand why Abigail is so popular, as I think it very ugly. Someone responded that she thought that Abigail was popular due to the nickname Abby. This didn't go very far in explaining it to me, since I consider Abby just as ugly as Abigail.
So I guess I've made it clear that I don't like Abigail or Abby or Abbey. I would still prefer to see Abby or Abbey as a nickname for Abigail than on its own. I do prefer the Abbey spelling, the E makes it look a little softer.
